I know this is not computer related but I wanted to share a neat little trick for taking screenshots using smartphones. There are little computers in our phones though, so I guess this could still count, right? ☺
For those of you that own any "i" products (iPhone, iPod, iPad) you can take a screen shot with a power/home button combo. Some android smartphones can do this as well. The HTC Amaze 4g, which is what i own, can. To see if your phone will do it as well, simply press your power button, which mine is on the top like the iPhones/iPods, then press the home button, which mine is on the far left on the bottom front and on the iPhones/iPods is the only button on the bottom front. The iPad has a few buttons on the front (I don't have one in front of me right now) and I believe the home button is the top button on the right side of the screen. If you have an older smartphone, I do not know if this can be done but there is definitely NO harm in trying it out to see. Just try pressing the power and home button combination if you have those buttons available. If you cannot take a screenshot, there are some apps available for free and purchase. I have noticed that most of them say the phone much be rooted though. My smartphone I had before my Amaze, the Samsung Behold 2, was not rooted and I got one of the free screenshots apps to work just fine. So there are other options and possibilities should this power/home button option not work on your smartphone.
This comes in great if you want a quick picture of your screen for future referencing. Maybe you find an internet page with some info like an address or phone number, or you come across a picture while surfing that you want to save to use on your desktop later. This can usually also be done by long pressing on the picture and selecting to save it.
NOTE: Android users - After you take the picture, a note will flash on your screen (probably towards the bottom) letting you know what file/folder it was saved in. On the "i" products, all pictures get saved in the same place.
Have fun taking screenshots.
ENJOY!
