Easy Screenshots

You can create easy screenshots with a program already installed on your computer.  It is called Paint.

What the letters stand for in the key combinations I use.
      V = Paste
      C = Copy
      X = Cut

Screenshots are easy to capture.  You don't need a special screenshot capturing program or a screenshot editing program either.  To make simple screenshots, follow the below steps: (for more complex screenshots with more editing options, you WILL need a different program other than Paint - this is just for simple screenshots)

To take a screenshot of your entire screen (everything you can see on it) simply select the Prt Scr button on your keyboard in the upper right hand corner.  If you want a screenshot ONLY of the application or screen you are in currently (without all the toolbars and task bars showing) hold down the Alt key then select the Prt Scr button.

Open the Paint program.  Go to Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Paint.

Hit the following key combination to paste the screen shot into the program - Ctrl + V (without the plus sign - the Control key and the V key) or go to Edit then Paste.

If you are only wanting a portion/section of this screenshot but think you might want to use this screenshot again, make sure to save it by going to File then Save As and save it with a recognizable name and in a place you can easily find it again.

Use the doted box (when you hover over it is called Select) - this is on the left hand side in the column closest to the canvas.  Use it to draw a box around the portion you are wanting to USE - not the parts you want to take out.  Select either (Edit then Copy and Edit then Paste) OR (key combinations Ctrl + C then Ctrl + X).  Select File then New.  It will ask you if you want to save the screenshot.  Select NO, because you either already saved it or did not want to in the first place.

It will then open a new clean canvas, now select either (Edit + Paste) OR (Ctrl + V).  You can then add text if you want or any other additions you want (that are available on the left side).  You can take out parts of screenshots also bu selecting either the free form select or select options. Use the Free form select if it is a more complex area you are wanting to delete.  Once you have the area selected you want to delete out of your screenshot, hit the Delete key on your keyboard in the top right corner OR you can select Edit from the top menu bar then select Cut from the drop down menu.

Again, this is a simple program so there is not a lot you will be able to do, so if you are wanting more options, you will need another program.  This is JUST for quick, easy, simple screenshots captures.

Select File and Save As and save it where you can easily find it again.

UPDATE: 5.28.21
In Windows 10 using Snip & Sketch,
Use the key combo of 'windows' + 'shift' + S.  This will darken all of your screen and you just draw a box around what you want to copy. Then when you release the box, you can click on the small window that appeared in the lower right of your screen or if it has disappeared before you clicked it, click on the notification center icon in the lower right of your screen and it will be waiting for you there.

ENJOY!
