Resizing Your Personal Photos - Windows 7

So let's say you have taken some photos and used a high resolution on your camera.  When you go to open the picture, you see it is crystal clear yet way too big sometimes do use.  This can be frustrating when you open it with say Microsoft Paint and can see maybe 1/12th of a corner of the photo.  Or maybe you are trying to send it in an email and it is too big to be attached and sent.  I find myself coming across those situations and others many times and have a found a great solution.

If you used Image Resizer for Windows XP Power Toys, then you now how convenient it was to have it when you right click.  Well there IS one for Windows 7 as well, it is a "clone"

It is called Image Resizer 3.  Very simple to use.  This is not installing a program on your computer, it is more like a plug-in tool.
  • Click on download on the page in the above link (on the right side of the screen, green button)
  • Next page, click on Application Image Resizer (will be on left side of page a little down from the top).
  • You will be prompted to agree with the terms before your can download it to your computer.  Select I Agree.
  • Select Save File.  Save it some where you can easily find it.

  •  Double click to open to begin installation

  •  Select Run.

  •  Check mark the box "I agree to the license terms and conditions."
  •  You will see a progress bar.
  •  When installation is complete, you will see this screen.

Now there will not be any program to see in your list of programs now.  What this does is makes it to where when you right click on a picture while viewing in on your computer, an option of Resize Image will now be there to resize it.

After selecting it, you will then have all the below options:

Hope you have fun resizing all of your pictures, taking out some of the frustration of them being to big to email grandma.

PLEASE NOTE: One of THE best piece of advise I can ever give you is this:  Get in the habit of creating a restore point before every time of installing or un-installing anything on your computer.  This way, should anything go wrong, you can revert back to before you made the change(s).

ENJOY!
