How to save/remove a page(s) out of a PDF file FREE

If you get PDF files on the regular, there may be times you need to pull out one or more of the pages as maybe you don't need all the rest.

You could take the long route and print all the pages, pull out the ones you need, trashing the others and wasting paper. Then scan the ones you need to create a new file.

You could get the PAID version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This may be the option to take if you need to do more manipulative tasks to your file such as adding in pictures or rearranging the pages or tracking signatures. There is a lot you can do with the paid version.

Who wants to pay though if all you need to do is take out a page or so from a PDF document? I can show you how to do it for FREE.
DESKTOP
Open the PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC <-- download here if you don't already have it, its FREE. Make sure to also sign in. Create an account if needed.

Once your file is open, figure out what page(s) you need.

Click the PRINT icon in the top ribbon or FILE --> PRINT or CTRL + P

Once the window opens, change the printer to MICROSOFT PRINT TO PDF

Then next to pages, enter the pages you want to print. If it is multiple consecutive pages, type it as 2-4. If it is multiple non consecutive pages, type it as 2,5,9.

Once you select PRINT, another window will open allowing you to save it to your computer. Name it and click OK. Now you will have a new PDF document with only those pages.

APP
Another great way to be able to manipulate your PDF for FREE by modifying them (like adding or deleting pages) is to download the Adobe Scan app to your smart phone.  There is also a paid version you can upgrade to if you need more features like Combine files, Set Password and Compress. This free app comes in handy when you need to add or remove a page(s) from a PDF file on your phone.

Once Adobe Scan is installed on your smart phone, sign in with the same account you use to sign in with on your desktop. If you have not signed in, you can sign in with whatever acct you want (Google or Yahoo for example). Or you can create an acct if needed. If you want to be able to scan from your phone and then see it on your computer though, you will need to create an account and make sure you're signed in as the same one on both devices.

To start a scan:
As soon as you open the app, it will immediately start a scan or you can click on the blue camera in the bottom right corner.

When you are taking the picture of the document, position the dots at the corners of what you want to scan.

original shot before reviewing looks like a regular photo

You can also manipulate this after you take the picture. You can take multiple pictures by selecting ADD PAGE. Do not worry if you have shadows or light reflections as you see here. At first it will look like a regular picture, but once you press REVIEW AND SAVE, you'll quickly see it has been transformed into an actual scan. Any reflective light or shadows have now been removed and flattened. It will look different than when you took the photo scan.
After hitting review, it is flattened and cleaned up

While in the review area, you can ADD PAGE, REORDER, CROP, ROTATE, add a FILTER, CLEANUP if there's still issues, PAGE SIZE and DELETE. You can also make changes to the file after you've finished with it, like if you need to go back after the fact. Click on ...MORE and select Modify Scan. (Not shown in the screenshot are also the options Add to Siri and Delete. All the options with blue stars are only available on the paid version.) Now you can do all the same things as before. I usually end up needing to use rotate.

Once you have it how you want, you can either rename it here or on your computer. Click SAVE PDF in the top right corner.  You will then be taken to your list of scanned docs.

If you realize you need to add/remove/rotate a page, just go back to your phone app, and make the changes from there. Once you save, you'll need to refresh your desktop screen, then open the file again to see the new changes you just made.

I hope all this helps to make your PDF life a little easier!!

ENJOY!
